Ash Wednesday Service A service of Holy Communion with the imposition of ashes will be held in church (1st day of Lent) on Wednesday 22nd February at 7.30pm.
The Well Foodbank Thank you St Bart’s people for the wonderful support you give. We would greatly appreciate assistance with donations of large size nappies, sanitary wear, men's and ladies toiletries, pasta sachets, long life milk and toilet rolls. If you are having a clear out of unused toiletries please think of us as they are perfect, as are the toiletries/ drink and sugar sachets in hotel bedrooms. Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary City of Sanctuary would welcome the following: household items such as towels, cushions and curtains, kitchen items including pots and pans, toasters, kettles etc. toys and games, baby items, children’s clothes, shoes for all ages, and adult clothes (smaller sizes especially for men). Special request this week please for a blender, a sewing machine, suitcases, umbrellas and a tablet for a child. We are often asked for hoovers and microwaves.

Bart’s Butterflies Thursdays at 1.45pm in the Lady Chapel (term time) Please join us for lots of singing, stories and FUN. All are welcome.

There will be a Valentine's Craft fayre in the church hall.
It will have lots of gifts and lots of different stalls with some great bargains for all. Please come and support us !!

Church Floodlighting: If you wish the Church to be floodlit in memory of a loved-one or the celebrate a special anniversary, birthday etc, please contact the Parish Office. The cost is only £15 and the Church is lit from dusk to midnight.

Loving God, I ask you to sustain me in the way of truth, guide me in the path of peace, and infuse me with the values of your kingdom.
Bestow upon us all, O lord our God, understanding to know you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

1. | We give thanks for all that our church wardens do week by week to support the clergy and keep things running smoothly in every part of church life. |
2. | We pray for people in prison that they will see how to turn their lives around. We pray for those who teach prisoners to read and write and help them to prepare for a better way of life when they leave prison. |
3. | We give thanks for our friend Melissa and pray for her as she shares the love of God with people who live in the Middle East. We pray for the many refugees who live in camps in this area. |
4. | We pray for people who help those who have recently left prison that they will be able to build a new life and find work. We pray that more employers will be willing to employ ex-prisoners. |
5. | SUNDAY We give thanks for all our clergy and pray that they will be encouraged as they minister to people of the church and parish. We pray for the people who visit those who are sick or have been bereaved. |
6. | We give thanks for the link that Lichfield diocese has with the diocese in Matlosane, South Africa. Keep safe the many pastors who travel long distances to support their congregations. |
7. | We pray for our clergy as they conduct funerals at St Bart’s. Give them wisdom as they meet with bereaved families. May each funeral be a special time for the families who grieve. |
8. | We pray for those who come to Alison’s course today and for Alison who leads it. We also give thanks for Ron who organises the Painting in Penn groups. |
9. | We pray for Catherine Crawley today that she will be really well and able to work as an administrator for a church in North London, and to take up her hobbies, such as bell ringing again. |
10. | We give thanks for our church choirs and for Carly, Julia and Huw as they lead and teach them. We also give thanks for our two organists, Gary and Paul. |
11. | We give thanks and pray for the band as they lead our worship this weekend. We remember all who lead the services and preach. |
12. | SUNDAY We give thanks and pray for all who come to the services at St Anne’s. We especially pray for families at St Anne’s who need support and encouragement. |
13. | We give thanks for Joy, Sally and Jo who work so hard week by week to make the coffee morning such an on-going success. We give thanks for all who have found friends at these gatherings. |
14. | We give thanks for our bell ringers who practise this evening and ring to call people to worship each weekend. |
15. | We pray for Anthony Arul, a vicar in Malaysia who spent part of his training here at St Bart’s. Give him wisdom in all the decisions that he has to make. We pray also for his family that they will keep well. |
16. | We give thanks for the families who bring their children to Butterflies, and those who lead this group week by week. We also pray for all who are following the Alpha course and for Ben who leads it. |
17. | Malaysia is one of the four dioceses linked to Lichfield. In some parts of this area it is difficult to be a Christian. We pray for your people here that they will have courage to keep on following Christ, and know the Lord’s presence with them day by day. |
18. | The news from Ukraine is heartbreaking. We pray for courage for people here, and for those seeking to help them. We pray for this war to come to an end. |
19. | SUNDAY We pray for the families bringing their children for baptism. May they be aware of the presence of the Lord on this special day. We give thanks for new life in Christ and pray for grace and strength when difficulties and troubles come. |
20. | We pray for all staff in our local schools. May they make good use of this time of half term, and be refreshed when they return to school next week. |
21. | We give thanks for all the work of the Mothers’ Union in the UK and worldwide. May those who lead be strengthened in their faith and may many groups be encouraged who live in difficult situations. |
22. | ASH WEDNESDAY As Lent begins, we pray that this will be a time when we will get to know the Lord better and learn more about walking in his ways. |
23. | We give thanks for those who live in our link diocese of Mecklenberg, Germany. Strengthen and encourage the pastors and people in these churches. |
24. | Loving God, we pray for those in our church and parish who are most vulnerable. Help us to be a church that is willing to bring hospitality and welcome to all. May we always reflect your love. |
25. | We give thanks for all who work in our Emergency Services. May the recent disputes be settled. Help all those who are stressed. We pray for all in our NHS who are stressed and worried. |
26. | SUNDAY We give thanks for all who read the lessons and lead intercessions at our services. We also give thanks for those who make the coffee after the services. |
27. | We pray for the many small churches our link diocese in Saskatchewan in Canada. May they be encouraged as they seek to work together. We also pray for those who are working to build relations with people in the First Nations. |
28. | We pray for victims of crime who often struggle to get the help and support they need. We pray that more money will be put into this vital service. |
