The Well Foodbank Particularly needed right now are tinned vegetables of all kinds, especially tinned potatoes, tinned fruit, rice pudding, any other tinned puddings, rice and pasta sachets, toiletries, large size nappies. ADVENT ART, DECEMBER 10TH 11.30AM – 5.00PM IN THE OAK ROOM

A day for biblically inspired art (no talent required!) involving demonstrations, lunch, resources and a passage of scripture. All resources and refreshments provided. Suggested minimal donation £5. If interested or want to know more please speak to Rev’d Alison.

School Admissions for St Peter’s Collegiate School 2023. If you are considering St Peter’s Collegiate School for your child for admission in September 2023 you will need to:- 

1 Complete a Supporting Evidence Form.

2  Personal Statement, pattern of worship/length of time attached to St Bart’s etc.

3   A telephone number to contact you.

Without all of this information we can’t complete and sign the form. Closing date for St Peter’s – Monday 5 th  December.

Applications for St Bartholomew’s Primary School for 2023 Admission

If you are looking for the church to support your application for a school place you will need to:-

1 Download the Supplementary Information Form from school website.

2 Complete Section 1.

3 Pass the whole form to us, and include a potted history of your worship at St Bart’s.

4 Let us have a telephone number where we can contact you to either discuss more, or tell you when the form has been completed.

Winter Newsletter

The Winter Newsletter is being distributed across the Parish. If you do not get one delivered, please take a copy of the Newsletter from the back of Church. You can also read online.

ANOINTING - will be offered after the 10am service throughout advent in the Lady Chapel..

EVERYDAY WITNESS, a journey of sharing faith.

This new C of E course will run for 10 weeks with a break for half term and Ash Wednesday.

Venue - Lady Chapel starting Wednesday 11th January 7pm - 8 30pm.

Cost - approximately £5 for reflective journal.

There are activities for large groups inc. congregations, small groups and individual bible reading notes. We are all called and sent as witnesses of Jesus.

Painting In Penn will commence its next intake for new budding water colour artists on Tuesday 10th January 2023 at 2pm and Wednesday 11th January at 2pm. Church Floodlighting: If you wish the Church to be floodlit in memory of a loved-one or the celebrate a special anniversary, birthday etc, please contact the Parish Office. The cost is only £15 and the Church is lit from dusk to midnight.

An Advent Prayer

Eternal God for whom we wait.

You feed us with the bread of life.

keep us ever watchful,

that we may be ready to stand before the Son of  Man,

Jesus Christ our Lord.

1.

We pray for all who work in our NHS - many are under great stress and suffering from exhaustion. May they get the help and support that they need. May more people be trained to do all kinds of work in hospitals, clinics and in the community.

2. 

We give thanks and pray for those who live in the diocese of Matlosane, especially those suffering from the effects of covid and those who care for them. We pray for the clergy that they will stay healthy.          

3. 

We pray for Catherine Crawley, who has recently been very poorly in hospital. May she be fully restored to health to continue her studies and return to her work as an administrator for Lighthouse London.

4. 

SUNDAY ADVENT 2    As we continue to prepare for the coming of our Lord, we pray for the celebration “Come Sing Evensong” at 5.30pm today. We give thanks and pray for all our clergy.

5.

Today we pray for people in prison that they will be able to turn their lives around, and prepare for life after prison. We pray for victims of crime that they will get justice and support that they need.

6.

We pray for Anthony Arul and his family in Malaysia that they will have good health at this busy time. We remember all your people in this land where it is difficult to be a Christian.

7.

We pray for all who serve in our emergency services, often under stress at this busy time of year. Give them wisdom in difficult situations, and peace of mind in all situations.

8.

We give thanks for all who run Butterflies, and for all the families who bring their children to this group. We pray for all who spend time sharing the love of Jesus with children and young people.          

9.

We give thanks for all who sing in our two choirs and for Carly,  Julia and Huw who lead them. We also give thanks and pray for our two organists.

10.

We give thanks and pray for our two church wardens. We also pray for Donna, Sue in the office, and Dean our treasurer. 

11.

SUNDAY ADVENT 3    We give thanks for all who worship at St 

Anne’s and those who lead these services. We also pray for the families who come to the services who need support and help at all times in their lives.

12.

We give thanks for all who come to the Coffee Morning and for Joy, Jo and Sally who work so hard to make it a success. We pray that people will find friends at these relaxed occasions.

13.

We pray for all who work in our schools that they will have peace as the end of term approaches. We pray for those preparing to sit their exams in January. We also pray for our special schools.

14.

We pray for all in our Mothers’ Union as they meet for communion this morning. We give thanks for all the groups of M.U. members across the world, and the many ways they support women and families.

15.

We give thanks for Lichfield’s links with the Lutheran church in Northern Germany. We pray that they will be encouraged as they have special services during Advent and Christmas. 

16.

We pray for those who are struggling financially at this time, especially those who cannot afford to buy food and pay for heating bills, or buy presents for their children.

17.

We give thanks for all who come to morning prayer each day, and for those who lead the services.

18.

SUNDAY ADVENT 4    We pray for all the carol services today at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm. We pray for all in the Hoodie Choir and the Senior Choir and Carly, Julia and Huw as they lead them. 

19.

We give thanks for all who serve in our armed services, and their families. We pray for families separated at this time, that they will know your peace.

20.

We pray today for those who have been released from prison that they will get the help that they need so that they can build a new life. We pray that firms will be prepared to employ ex-prisoners.

21.

Today is the Blue Christmas service. Many people find Christmas a very difficult time of year for many reasons. Lord be with all those people and show them that you came for all people.

22.

We pray today for the many small churches in our link diocese of Saskatchewan, Canada. May your people and their leaders be encouraged in their Christian lives.

23.

We pray today for King Charles and his family. Give them wisdom at all times. We pray that this will be a joyful time for them as they celebrate Christmas.

24.

CHRISTMAS EVE    We pray for all who come to the to the Crib Service and the Christingle service. We also pray for the Eucharist services at 9.00pm and 11.30pm.

25.

CHRISTMAS DAY    Welcome Lord Jesus, come and give your peace and joy to all people, especially those who have found this a difficult year.

26.

BOXING DAY    Many people travel today to visit friends and relatives. We pray for safety on our roads and railways and airfields.  

27.

We pray today for people who are unemployed that they will find work in the New Year. Help people to cope with all the paper work they often face. 

28.

Parliament is in recess at this time. We pray for all in our government and all our M.P.s. Help them to prepare for the next session in the New Year, that they will make good decisions for our country.

29.

We give thanks for all who work in our food banks. Help us all to be generous so that there will be plenty to share with those who are in great need at this time. 

30.

Let us look back with thanksgiving and forward with prayer. As we consider the year that is past and forward to the year that is to come. 

31.

NEW YEAR’S EVE    How good is the God we adore, our faithful unchangeable friend. We will praise him for all that is past and trust him for all that’s to come.
