Who is the course for?
- Prehaps you are new to the Church
- Maybe you have been invited by us through your childs baptism
- You have a feeling of a God and wonder if Christianity is for you
- You have heard about the course and thought you'd give it a go
- You are getting married and feel it would make your day extra special
- You want to know the facts about christianity from a reliable source
The Start course is designed to help people discover the basics of the Christian faith. The sessions assume no previous knowledge of anything Christian.
There is time to chat, simple discussion and space for reflection. All in a style that is down-to-earth and honest, and which aims to be enjoyable too. There is no written work or homework!
Start! is ideal for baptism families, wedding contacts, bereaved families, parents of children and teenagers and those who are new to the church.
What To Expect
On arrival you will be welcomed by Revd Ben Whitmore. He will soon put you at ease with a quick chat and a cup of coffee.
The course is a series of four DVD presentations over four weeks. Ben hands out a handbook and Introduces the course and a 15 min Video is shown.
Each Video explains aspects of christianity and raises questions that you, yourself may have concerns about. It tells you about Jesus Christ and his life and why so many people accross the world put their belief and trust in him. Halfway through the DVD there is a chance to ask Questions or make private notes in the handbook, and that is followed by another quick video presentation to complete the evenings course.
After the session Ben rounds off the evening with another informal chat and invites any questions, either as a group, couples or individuals, and invites you back for the next session.
Each session is friendly and relaxed and lasts just an hour or some times less! There is no pressure to complete the course. (if its not your sort of thing, that's fine) However, it's a great way to introduce yourself to Ben, discover a lively welcoming Church and find meaning and purpose in your life.

People that have completed the course here at St Bart's have found it to be interesting, informative and a stepping stone into life in the church and a knowledge of God and Jesus. Some have continued their learning by doing the Alpha Course.
